Michigan Diabetes Research Center: Molecular Genetics Core

RRID: SCR_015119

Services

The Molecular Genetics Core provides services related to the application of genetic methodologies to research related to diabetes:

Generation of targeted genetic mouse models, using CRISPR/Cas9 system in mouse or rat embryos:
  • Gene edited alleles
  • Knockout alleles
  • loxP-flanked alleles
  • Knock-in alleles (gene insertions, e.g., cre and Flp recombinases, rtTA (“TET-on”), GFP)
  • Cost includes design, construct assembly, embryo injection costs, and screening of potential founders.
  • Application of CRISPR-Cas9 technology in specific genetic backgrounds is available on request, at extra cost.
Generation of specialty viral vectors:
  • Constitutive or cre-inducible AAVs expressing transgenes of interest
  • Cost includes design and construct assembly. Viral production costs are paid directly to the Viral Vector Core by user. ALL costs may be waived for reagents likely to be of general interest, providing that PI is willing to allow distribution to other MDRC members following initial testing.
Specialty viral reagents:
  • Defective pseudotyped rabies viruses for tract-tracing, including AAV helper viruses
  • A panel of general interest cre-inducible AAVs (for list, click here)
  • Under development: AAV-driven CRISPR/Cas9 reagents for gene ablation in animals
Specialty Mouse models
